(re-post of a blog post I did in June 2008 about George W. Bush. I’m re-posting to quash beliefs that I only dislike liberals and love all Republicans.)
Is the president being impeached? (I hope so.)
I have been watching a lot of C-SPAN lately. It’s basically the only thing worth watching, now that all TV pretty much sucks.
Not a lot of people watch C-SPAN. So I’m one of the small percentage of Americans who know, at this moment, that Representative Dennis Kucinich is on the Congressional floor presenting his resolution calling for Bush’s impeachment. It’s a list of 35 charges, (list here) mostly Constitutional violations and Geneva Convention violations, and he’s been reading it for about an hour, and he’s about halfway through it. A member of the House of Representatives presenting a resolution detailing charges is one of the first steps in impeachment proceedings.
The charges range from election fraud, including disenfranchisement, to illegal wiretapping to illegal torture, to lying about our reasons for going to war, to handing out padded military contracts to his buddies. And a lot more. I can barely keep up. And I’m as giddy as a kid in a candy store about this. So is Debra Jean. She’s glued to the screen. We both love the Constitution. A lot.
It’s history in the making, and it’s not even on CNN.com or Yahoo News yet. I think it’s an emergency meeting, because it’s 10:30 PM in DC right now. I remember seeing the effort to impeach Richard Nixon as news coverage on TV when I was a kid, but he was never actually impeached. (He quit before that could happen, and Ford pardoned Nixon as soon as he took office.) And Nixon was basically just going to be charged with, as I recall, one thing (conspiring to pay people to bug a hotel room). The charges being read against Bush are many, and many are far more serious.
Kucinich is quoting the US Constitution a lot. I wish Kucinich had made it to run for president. He’s smart, and has other things going for him.
I have a prediction: tonight on the Colbert show, Colbert will report this out of character, as he really is, not as his “alter ego” who would be outraged by this. He’ll just state it, and let people cheer.
Here’s a quick 20-minute podcast I recorded, and uploaded while the proceedings were still being read live. It’s about 17 minutes of the charges being read, and about three minutes of us commenting on it. We’re pretty much in shock. And pretty happy.
(behind every great short man is a smart, better looking, and often taller, woman)

I agree Bush was a bad President and I personally do not even consider him a conservative, because to be honest, I can’t think of one Conservative thing he has done, however I have to ask this, with Obama expanding the Patriot Act for an additional year, to allow Wire Tapping and all the Cheating and bribes he has openly made to push his Progressive agenda’s and his illegal bombings into Pakistan and his lies about Afghanistan, will he be charged with anything ?, nope he will get by with anything, as an old Hippie once told me ” All bombs with an R on it are evil, and all Bombs with D on them are good”.
” All bombs with an R on it are evil, and all Bombs with D on them are good”.
woah!

@ Lowglow
Spot on. In fact there’s been very little said about the Patriot Act expansion. Obama himself criticized it in the past. He went from being against it, to supporting some it it, to extending it in full and no one on the liberal side of things seems to care.
A liberal friend once told me that war is okay when Democrats wage it. He wasn’t kidding. This was coming from a guy with an ACLU card in his wallet.
I’d also like to ask a question:
How many anti-war demonstrations has there been in the past 12+ months?
Can you hear the crickets chirping?
Bondurant – spot on, as you’d say!

OK Mike,
So how can I get you to attend an Appleseed Shoot ?, you have a few coming up in April in your State and I think you would have a good time, good eating and lots of shooting and some darn fine Rifle Instructors.
http://WWW.appleseedinfo.org
I’ve attended two, one in Douglas and one in Newcastle. I liked them and recommend appleseed to people (including in the appendix of my last book: http://www.lifeamp.org )

Cool, I’m getting my Instructor hat next month and looking forward to teaching some people to respect and shoot a few Rifles, I might hit the one near you because I own a little Ranch in Nevada and might drop by, and let you try out my M-14.
The thing is there is no “conservative” party anymore. Like Matt mentioned in a response to a previous post “…Republicans…stopped practicing what they preached about limited government and responsible stweardship of our tax dollars.” Michael, when you and your fellow posters embrace republicanism, I have to assume you are talking about its current state and that’s the version of conservativism you want. If you are not, you would be complaining all the time about your party selling out its ideas for money and power. But, you don’t. Instead, you complain about the democrats as if they are the constant and only offender and the republicans can do no wrong. And I am not saying that democrats are never to blame. I am saying that you refuse to believe that republicans are ever to blame. It is all very one-sided. If you were totally against the way government runs this country, you would have a problem with both sides and not just one.
Michael prior to your reposting of an old post from 20 months ago, there was ONLY ONE post in the past 3 months, which was not posted from you, about Alaska’s governor who wants its citizens to pay for other’s college tuition. That governor happens to be republican. Other than that, I have NEVER seen a republican shown in a bad light on libertarian punk in the past 3 months. Reposting something from 20 months ago does not quash the beliefs that you only dislike liberals and love republicans. Only balancing the blame on both parties with eliminate that theory.

TS…this sounds like it’s getting personal on your end. Is it?
I don’t really have time to dig up annotations of all the places I’ve bashed repubs, but if you need “proof” that I’ve disliked some repubs, go read this:
http://www.libertarianpunk.com/2010/01/an-open-letter-to-the-republican-party/
where I bashed John McCain and Rudy Giuliani.
I also bashed them both, along with GW Bush, here,:
http://www.libertarianpunk.com/2010/01/gun-violence-is-the-lefties-fault/
I also was less than kind to Arnold Schwarzenegger here:
http://www.libertarianpunk.com/2010/01/we-picked-a-good-time-to-leave-california/
All three of those posts on libertarianpunk.com are “from the past 3 months”, as you put it, and I found them in about thirty seconds by searching the term “republican” on the search interface on this blog.
There’s also a lot of stuff on both of my podcasts where I dismiss Republicans, but I’d have to listen through a bunch of audio to find that, and I think I’ve already made my point.
Your posts are starting to feel more and more aggressive, like you want to catch me in a contradiction and “prove” that I’m wrong in something.
It’s starting to get on my nerves, and I think you’d be happier somewhere else, like maybe DemocraticUnderground.com. They’ve already got a thread about how I’m a bad guy. I’m sure you could find some support there.
MWD
What does TS keep harping about? The proof is in the pudding. Try reading the damn site.
Who has been “embracing republicanism”? At least the Republican Party has one sane person in congress. The same can’t be said for your beloved Democratic Party, TS.
TS, don’t forget my blog about the Alaska Scholarships where i bashed Governor Parnell. Even you said you mentioned how I was ragging on a republican
TS,
If it makes you feel better, I will say this, today’s Democrats and Republicans are like Shit sandwiches, and everyday is just another bite.
But in all seriousness, both Party’s have changed a lot, if JFK was alive today with the views he held, he would be labeled a Right Wing Nut.
I can’t speak for others, but I can speak for myself and I’ll explain why I’m backing the republican Party. As I’m sure you already know the Democrat Party at one time was a Liberal Party but over the years it has went so far left it is no longer Liberal, it has been taken control of by the Progressive/Socialist agenda and really no longer represents Liberals as we once knew them to be, so the Democrat Party is now locked down and not open to any other Political ideas but the Progressive ones, now on the Other hand, the Republican Party is all over the place and ripe for the taking, and it is my goal to purge it of the RHINOS and those that no longer subscribe to the ideas of the Constitution and the Freedoms we once knew.
If you have been following the News over the last year we have been going through a weeding process were we have refused to back Republicans that are so far out of it, that we don’t want them in our Party, a good example would be GW Bush, the recent elections in New York the upcoming one involving Christ and our attempt to get rid of McShame, and we will continue to get rid of them until we at least have a Party that represents us.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Democrats, but they have gone way to far left, and when you go to far left you get , Totalitarianism , but if you go to far right you have Anarchy , because right thinking people if it were up to us, we would have no Government at all, while the Left wants more Government.
I’m not very talented when it comes to expressing myself, but I hope you understand how many of us see things.
I’m as happy as can be, the UPS dropped off my new Sightron 8-32×56 SIII 30mm Riflescope today, and she has some nice Glass, she will look good on the old savage .300 Win Mag.
”All Bombs with an R on it are evil, and all Bombs with D on them are good.”
All F-Bombs get bleeped by squeamish censors.
All Bombs with MWD in them were signed to Warner Brothers.
I was a nomadic kid, an Air Force dependent. In one of the places I lived, one euphemism for “breasts” was “Titty Bombs.” It was an Air Force Base, so I guess such nomenclature was inevitable.
Just riffing on the word BOMB. Which has nothing to do with anything, but then again, I’m not too sure ANYTHING has anything to do with anything.
Michael, I never thought you were a bad guy. I don’t know why you think that I thought that about you. The only thing I was trying to prove is that everything you complain about the liberals interfering with Americans’ freedom, the conservatives do the same. I was trying to show you that it is very hypocritical to be anti-government by blaming one side of the government while embracing the other. If one is anti-government, it should be the whole enchilada.
However, you feel that I have been personally attacking you. Really? See, I thought it was the other way around. Within the first week of my responses, you assumed I was someone I wasn’t (you thought I was someone from some film company?), went through the AOL political opinions and by using my screen name, found some post that wasn’t mine but assumed it was. By doing that, you printed my email address, which, according to your own text – will not be published. I was very annoyed about that but I decided to not make a big deal about it.
What’s even more strange is that I was under the impression you had liked, even encouraged, the political debating. You had even sent a personal email to me, regarding a different matter, but you said that you liked my postings and to keep it up. Somehow, I guess I misread that you wanted the debates to continue.
Go ahead and have a boring one-sided blog where everyone pats each other on the back and agrees with you about those damn liberals ruining this country and it’s a good thing we have republicans to bring back the freedom.
I am tired of your mixed message game. I’m out.
TS – it wasn’t the complete e-mail address, I thought it was a user name on a site, not an e-mail address, but to protect your privacy, I’ve edited it out. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
I did like your comments on here at first, I do enjoy intelligent discussions, which at first, you were engaging in.
It’s just that lately, it’s taken a turn where you seem to be getting personal, and almost every morning I wake up to slams of my “logic.” At first I thought it might be my perception, but when you said something untrue without researching it (that I’d never said anything critical of the Right on here), it really just seemed that it’s not getting anywhere, and that you just have an agenda to “prove me wrong.”
If I’m incorrect in this assessment, let me know. But other people on here have noticed it too.

Wow, just watched an interview with Stephen King the Horror writer, and it looks like we have a new member to the Constitutional/ Libertarian Movement, he announced he was working on a New Book and a Concept Album with Waylon Jennings son on a Rock Concept album about the Technocratic/Socialist takeover of the USA.
Could be interesting.
Sorry Waylon Jennings sons’ name is shooter Jennings, not a big country music fan, so I don’t know much about him, but I guess his son is a Rocker.
That stunner can NOT be Kucinech’s wife. Just… no…it cannot be.
But it is.
Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac.
MWD
@Lowglow – I don’t buy it. Stephen King is a proud leftist. He might even be a socialist.
@Bob Mulroy – Believe it. That is his wife. My guess is the man has a ton of dough or a large you-know-what.
Elizabeth Kucinich is an inveterate “THINK OF THE CHILDREN!” leftist. So Dennis Kucinich probably looked like a prize to her. (Or a stepping stone.) Also, she was a British citizen. You could do worse than Kucinich for a green card candidate.
Basically, whereas most politicians just fuck their help, he married his. Smart man. It worked out well for both of them.

“Born Elizabeth Harper, Elizabeth Kucinich was brought up in North Ockendon in the London Borough of Havering. In 1996 she went to Agra, India, to volunteer at one of Mother Teresa’s homes for India’s poorest children.
“Upon earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Kent at Canterbury, she spent 16 months in a rural Tanzanian village and worked as an advocate for regional development.
“After leaving Tanzania, she volunteered with a British Red Cross refugee unit; earned a certificate in Peace Studies from Coventry University; and got a job as a fund-raiser for a seafarer’s charity in London.
“Her volunteer work often brought her to the House of Lords. At that time she heard financial analyst Stephen Zarlenga speak about monetary reform. She was impressed and soon was hired to become Zarlenga’s assistant at the Chicago-based American Monetary Institute. That work took her and Zarlenga to Dennis Kucinich’s office.”

Lowglow, I understood perfectly what you were getting at, and it rings true.

Bondurant,
You might be right about Stephen King, but when I listened to his interview, he kind of reminded me of that Conspiracy guy from Texas, can’t think of his name right now, Alex something, I think.
Alex Jones.
Here’s Jones acting like a total ass, hijacking a gun rights rally in Austin.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TACalwg360c
I’m beginning to think Jones might be a government plant. How’s THAT for a conspiracy theory?
MWD
Micheal,
Thank you, I could not think of his name off the top of my head, but yes Jones is it, and you know something ?, you just might be right about Jones.
I have only listened to him, maybe twice in my entire lifetime and thought he was a little out there, so I never took him serious, but thank you for the link, I’ll check it out.
Oh btw did you read the opening Statements for the Supreme Court Hearing for the Chicago Gun Rights Hearing ?, it’s looking pretty good for us so far.
One more Comment, Kucinich’s Wife is a Hottie and he did well with her, of course I have always been partial to Redheads, that’s why I’m married to one.
